Rick Myers
CEO
Rick is CEO and co-founder of Gravity Group Asia. Prior to starting Gravity Group Asia, Rick was General Manager of Asia for the internet appliance company InfoGear Technology Corporation (acquired by Cisco Systems in 2000). Previous to InfoGear and Cisco, Rick managed the System Software and Developer Relations groups for Apple Computer Asia.
Rick graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He also attended Nagoya University in Japan, where he was a Japanese Ministry of Education Scholar, and Yonsei University in Korea. He speaks Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and other languages.
John Cox
Strategy
John is Director of Strategy for Gravity Group Asia. Prior to joining the company, he co-founded the Chinese social networking community hao8hao.com. John previously served as the Special Projects Manager for Chubb Insurance in Shanghai responsible for the deployment of new product lines for the Chinese market.
John graduated with an engineering degree from the University of Virginia, and was born and raised in Asia. He speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese.
William Hsieh
Business Development
Mr. Hsieh, based in Shanghai, is Director of Business Development for Gravity having joined the company in 2011. He previously worked in marketing and new business development for Sony Music and EMI Music in Greater China and the US. More recently, he was involved in the development of an entertainment-themed shopping center in Shanghai and also co-founded a chain of premium yoga centers in Taiwan.
Mr. Hsieh earned his BA from Columbia University and MBA from New York University. He also attended the University of International Business & Economics in Beijing. Born in Taiwan and raised in the US, he is fluent in English, Mandarin Chinese, and Taiwanese.
Gonz Ferrero
Director
Gonz is a Director of Gravity Group Asia. Prior to joining Gravity Group Asia, Gonz most recently launched his own media and music entrepreneurial venture in Singapore. Gonz founded and managed a Spain-focused seed investment vehicle, having previously spent time as an Investment Manager for Electra Partners, in William Blair's European corporate finance team, and various positions within ABN AMRO and Citi. He has co-founded, managed and invested in a variety of industries, businesses and geographies.
Gonz graduated from Washington and Lee University with honors, and received his MBA from INSEAD on a scholarship. He speaks Spanish, conversational Mandarin Chinese, and other languages.
